Martinsville Artesians Varsity Loses Lead Early In Defeat
Martinsville Artesians Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 8-3 loss to Franklin Community on Thursday. Franklin Community scored on a grand slam by Jerriss Lee in the first inning and a home run by Alec MaccLenan in the second inning.
Franklin Community took an early lead in the first inning. Jerriss Lee drove in four when he homered in the first inning.
Martinsville Artesians Varsity scored three runs in the fourth inning. Martinsville Artesians Varsity’s big inning was driven by a double by Brett Lavender.
Isaac Mccullough earned the win for Franklin Community. He went five innings, surrendering three runs, six hits, striking out one, and walking zero. Michael Hoppel took the loss for Martinsville Artesians Varsity. He pitched six innings, allowing eight runs, eight hits, and striking out six.
Alec MaccLenan started the game for Franklin Community. He went two innings, surrendering zero runs, two hits, and walking zero.
Home runs for Franklin Community came when MaccLenan homered in the second inning and Lee homered in the first inning.
Lavender led Martinsville Artesians Varsity with two runs batted in. He went 1-for-3 on the day. Martinsville Artesians Varsity was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Seth Galyan made the most plays with six.
Franklin Community had eight hits in the game. Luke Miles and Mccullough each collected multiple hits for Franklin Community. Franklin Community didn’t commit a single error in the field. Jacob Heeuchan had four chances in the field, the most on the team.
