Martinsville Artesians Varsity Drops Game To Franklin Community After Late Score
Wednesday’s game against Franklin Community was a heartbreaker for Martinsville Artesians Varsity, as they lost the lead late in a 9-3 defeat. The game was tied at two with Franklin Community batting in the top of the fifth when Alec MaccLenan homered off of Brandon Dodson, driving in two runs.
Franklin Community took an early lead in the second inning. With one out in the second inning Isaac Mccullough drove in one run when he homered.
Martinsville Artesians Varsity evened things up at two in the bottom of the fourth inning. Martinsville Artesians Varsity scored two runs when Brandon Dodson homered with one out in the fourth inning.
Franklin Community scored four runs in the seventh inning. Franklin Community’s big inning was driven by a home run by Jerriss Lee and a error.
Luke Miles earned the win for Franklin Community. He pitched six innings, giving up three runs, six hits, striking out three, and walking one. Branson Pugh recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Franklin Community. Dodson took the loss for Martinsville Artesians Varsity. He threw six innings, allowing five runs, 11 hits, striking out five, and walking one.
Home runs for Franklin Community came when Alec MaccLenan homered in the fifth inning, Lee homered in the fifth and seventh innings, and Mccullough homered in the second inning.
Dodson led Martinsville Artesians Varsity with two hits in three at bats.
Franklin Community had 13 hits in the game. Lee, Miles, Kyle Davis, and Blake Dicken each collected multiple hits for Franklin Community. Franklin Community didn’t commit a single error in the field. Jacob Heeuchan had ten chances in the field, the most on the team.
