Girls Varsity Softball · Coach Rhoden Resigns

On July 19, 2018, the MSD of Martinsville School Board will tender the resignation of Martinsville High School Softball Coach Ken Rhoden

Coach Rhoden leaves the Martinsville High School Softball program after 20 years and the school’s winningest softball coach.  Coach Rhoden led the Artesians to two IHSAA State Championships in 2005 and 2006, which was the first time in state history that a softball team won back to back titles.  His team also made a Final Four appearance in 2004.  He coached 2006 Indiana Miss Softball, Jessica Breeden, along with 25 players who played collegiately.  His teams won 6 conference titles and 4 sectional titles.  He was named conference coach of the year in 2005 and 2018.  He was recognized as the Indy Star Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2006.  His teams have made many poll appearances as a state ranked team.

“Under Coach Rhoden’s tenure, Martinsville softball players, coaches, and program, have gained state wide respect in a first class manner.  His teams displayed high character and positive sportsmanship while competing with the best.  He has made a positive difference.” stated Martinsville High School Athletic Director Kip Staggs.  Search for a new coach will begin upon acceptance of the resignation by the MSD of Martinsville School Board.
