The 1st round of sectionals began on Monday evening with the Artesians taking on the Flashes from Franklin Central. Both schools played great defense for the entire game.
Franklin Central scored 1 in the bottom of the 2nd, and it wasn’t long after that the Artesians were able to string some hits together in the top of the 3rd inning to take the lead and never looked back!

Elizabeth Snipes led off the inning with a single and was bunted to 2nd by Ali Lang. She moved up to 3rd base on a passed ball by the FC catcher. Paige Dorsett was hit by a pitch to put her on 1st base. Lexi Lucas then stepped to the plate and hit a double in the game to score Snipes and move Dorsett to 3rd. Annah Elliot then stepped to the plate and hit a double to the fence to drive in 2 more runs. The Artesians weren’t able to push any more runs across, but 3 was all they needed to secure the win. The defense stepped up in some key situations to blank the Flashes for the rest of the game.

The Artesians are back in action Tuesday in the 2nd round against the Whiteland Warriors. The game is at 6:00 at Franklin Central.
